The option is available for both the Story and the Family Trials modes of the game. This is one of the reasons they opted to cap the player count at two, rather than four. Online Coop was added to Children of Morta with the recent Fellowship Sanctuary update. In total, there are six family members from which to choose, but playing as characters for too long causes them to become corrupted by the malevolent force against which they fight players will need to mix it up so their favorites can recover. The stakes are still high, but the player is never truly punished for failing a challenge.Ĭhildren of Morta features two-player co-op, but also encourages that players mix up their character choice. While roguelike games remain divisive to most gamers, Children of Morta offers a decidedly lighter take on the genre, even compared to other so-called "roguelites." Getting killed results in being booted out of the current dungeon, but there is no permadeath, and loot isn't lost upon death. This encourages players to actually use their equipment and starts them off on a clean slate every time they start a new, procedurally generated stage. Introducing online co-op to an already stellar experience, players will be able to connect together to fight the Corruption from anywhere. It's a bit slower than something like Diablo 3, but features a unique take on loot, where certain items offer perks which only last through the current level. I wouldn't bother, though.Combat is familiar to fans of isometric hack and slash action. I think it's pretty evident even at a blush. Since others mentioned Hades (which I love), I'll say that there's no real comparison Hades has so much more going on in all regards. ![]() ![]() The next level is sand, and it's the same, but light brown instead of dark brown and purple. Brown walls, brown floor, and then the same few enemies that you'll fight over and over until you beat the boss. The first level is a cave, and every room is just. but the bulk of the game takes place in auto-generated dungeons that have absolutely no personality and no real substance. What I recall is that the hand-crafted parts of the game (like your home) have absolutely lovely pixel art and lots of charm. I backed it on KS and played it when it hit, but I haven't touched it in a long time. I'll cut against the grain and say it sucks.
